Fishing

 
Killarney and the surrounding district has some of the best salmon and trout waters in Ireland and is an ideal base for fishing enthusiasts. Trout fishing on Killarney’s Lakes is free and, for a small licence fee you can hunt for the magnificent wild Atlantic Salmon. On many of the nearby rivers, for a small daily/weekly charge you can fish for Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout and Salmon. Sea coast and deep-sea fishing options are but a short drive away on many points around the Atlantic Kerry coast.

Jaunting Cars & Horse Riding

    
Jaunting Cars are available from outside the Hotel or at Muckross House. Horse riding may be enjoyed at the Gap of Dunloe or at one of the many stables in the area - please contact the Hall Porter who will be glad to make any arrangements for you.
 
The Killarney Riding Stables offer one, two and three hour trails through Killarney National Park. This is open all year, with rides starting daily from 9.30 am and the last ride of 1 hour goes out at 5pm. Advance booking is required.

The Fossa Way – commence at the Golden Gates (100m from The International) and travel through the National Park and on as far as the small village of Fossa. This route, with a newly surfaced and widened roadway, affords the cyclist or walker magnificent views of the Killarney's lakes and mountains from a high point near Cnoc na Rí.

Guides are available for many of the walks and climbing routes and, given notice, we are happy to assist with arranging outings for guests. Many of the walking routes are also ideal for cycling. Whether you bring your own bike or hire from the numerous bike-hire providers in Killarney, you will be spoilt for choice of routes and options. We are happy to provide picnic lunches for your outing - please order the night before so that we can have them ready before your day.

Golf

 
Killarney has three 18 hole championships golf courses at Killeen, home of the Irish Open 2010 and 2011, Mahony’s Point and Lackabane, as well as many excellent courses within one hour’s drive at Waterville, Ballybunion and Tralee, to mention but a few. Muckross Traditional Farms & Playground

Explore 3 separate working farms from the 1930s and 1940s giving an exciting representation of the life and farming styles of the time. Each farmhouse comes with animals, poultry and horse drawn farm machinery. Visit the blacksmith’s forge, a carpenter’s workshop or hop onto the Muckross Vintage Coach which drives from farm to farm.

Coolwood Wildlife Park

Located on the outskirts of the town, this 47-acre wildlife park and sanctuary is a sure delight for all the family. Amongst the wild and unusual creatures are monkeys, wallabies, Ilamas, macaws and capybaras (the biggest rats in the world!)

Crag Caves & Crazy Play, Castleisland

Explore this colourful limestone wonderland of stalagmites and stalactites. The centre also includes a restaurant and childrens indoor and outdoor adventure play centre.

Swimming

Located on the outskirts of Killarney, the Coral Leisure Centre is a state of the art leisure facility and the swimming facilities include a main 25m pool, a learners pool and a toddlers pool. Guests of The International Hotel will receive a 10% discount at this leisure centre.
